violence in humans a social taboo

Rory Miller discusses the taboo subject of the capacity for violence in humans.  The host is rewilder Daniel Vitalis.  This is a fascinating and very pertinent issue for these times.  I love the part where they discuss the benefits of awareness.  It is great to be focussed on the good and what we want and open to opportunities on this level but genuine awareness will not filter out alerts about the safety of either ourselves or our loved ones.  We have been told by some that the world is a fearful place and we should just respond with love.  Love is great, but the antidote to fear is courage.

'In this episode of ReWild Yourself! podcast, I talk with Rory Miller — author of Mediations on Violence — about the human violence blueprint. We debunk some of the most common misconceptions about violence and self defence.
Episode Breakdown:
The Violence Taboo
Why are humans so afraid of violence?
The Violence Threshold
Common misconceptions surrounding violence
Misconceptions about law enforcement

Nature vs. nurture
No one should be training for self defence out of fear. You should train because you love training.
Awareness makes your life richer.
None of us are the products of ancestors who refused to defend themselves. '

eclipse on dartmoor

The solar eclipse coincided with a supermoon when the moon is at its closest to the earth (known as perigee) and also the spring equinox, when the days become longer than the nights in the northern hemisphere.  There was an utterly mystical atmosphere on Dartmoor, a sense of auspiciousness.   As we drove back towards Totnes and the sunlight returned we realised how low the light had been.
It reminded me of viewing the solar eclipse in Devon in August 1999.  There was a sense of something big changing but it was hard to pinpoint at the time.  On hindsight it was obvious.  it included a rapid development and increasing speed in information exchange and communications between people through fast changing and spreading technology.  Through this global link up knowledge is spreading to a point where I feel we are on the verge of a massive shift in awareness and actually experience of reality also social change, signalled by this 2015 eclipse.  Also we realise we need to embrace a whole solution for the woes of humanity, nothing partial will work any more.  As individuals we can play our individual roles in our specialist areas, whilst still embracing this whole solution.

Since the eclipse my life has turned upside down in unexpected ways.  However these changes are really catapulting me into the work I should really be doing, focussing on retreats in nature and providing  opportunities for healing for those damaged by the circumstances inflicted upon them so they can play their role too.  I will be back with more on this.  For people already signed up to Edenic States I can only apologise for the delay in starting regular mailings.  I have been doing a  lot of preparatory work. If you want to hear more about retreats and knowledge about how to get into a better feeling state please sign up on the left hand side of this blog.  I am also starting  a non profit venture for healing retreats, also ongoing sense of community, for those who are battered by life and need to heal and reset in order to make a contribution to society.  Please contact me at holly@foodforconsciousness.co.uk if you are interested in this project.

devon green lanes

So wonderful to get out walking in the lanes and admire the magical hills of South Hams.  The new greens beginning to emerge, the March fresh air in lanes where people don't think to go is much more exhilarating than a photograph of still bare hedges can show!  I am certain now that the neurophone enhances appreciation of nature as well as all the other wonderful things it does, and not just for me either...
Lizzy in the lane

Enjoying finding more edible greens such as this pennywort in the hedge.  I will be teaching about foraging for wild greens and connecting to plant life on our cleansing retreat in April.

wild garlic leaves and spring in devon with the goddess

wild garlic leaves
I remember a time when I thought nature was just a beautiful backdrop to my life before I realised you could have an ecstatic connection with the Earth.  A goddess who believes in you rather than a god you have to believe in ...how about that :)...(paraphrased from John Lash)

432 Hz music

For me the difference between 432Hz and 440Hz music is simply stunning. The former makes my heart sing (if I like the piece!) ; the latter just jars! Another mystery unravelled! Music is meant to be heavenly!  I have clipped more of the story from four websites below.  There is also lots of 432Hz music to listen to on youtube.

To understand the healing power behind 432Hz, you must first learn about another frequency, 8Hz. It is said that 8Hz is the fundamental “beat” of the planet. The heartbeat of the Earth is better known as Schumann resonance and is named after physicist Winfried Otto Schumann, who documented it mathematically in 1952.
Schumann resonance is a global electromagnetic resonance, which has its origin in electrical discharges of lightning within the cavity existing between the Earth’s surface and the ionosphere. This cavity resonates with electromagnetic waves in the extremely low frequencies of approximately 7.86Hz – 8Hz.
The “ordinary” thought waves created by the human brain range from 14Hz to 40Hz. This range only includes certain types of dendrites belonging to brain cells, predominantly within the left (the more rational) hemisphere of the brain, which is the center of activity.
If the two hemispheres of our brain are synchronized with each other at 8Hz, they work more harmoniously and with a maximum flow of information. In other words, the frequency of 8Hz seems to be the key to the full and sovereign activation potential of our brain.
8Hz is also the frequency of the double helix in DNA replication. Melatonin and Pinoline work on the DNA, inducing an 8Hz signal to enable metosis and DNA replication. A form of body temperature superconductivity is evident in this process.

Let’s explore the experiential difference between A=440 Hz and A=432 Hz. The noticeable difference music lovers and musicians have noticed with music tuned in A=432 Hz is that it is not only more beautiful and harmonious to the ears, but it also induces a more inward experience that is felt inside the body at the spine and heart. Music tuned in A=440 Hz was felt as a more outward and mental experience, and was felt at the side of the head which projected outwards. Audiophiles have also stated that A=432hz music seems to be non-local and can fill an entire room, whereas A=440hz can be perceived as directional or linear in sound propagation.

“The ancients tuned their instruments at an A of 432 Hz instead of 440 Hz – and for a good reason. There are plenty of music examples on the internet that you can listen to, in order to establish the difference for yourself. Attuning the instrument to 432 Hz results in a more relaxing sound, while 440 Hz slightly tenses up to body. This is because 440 Hz is out of tune with both macrocosmos and microcosmos. 432 Hz on the contrary is in tune. To give an example of how this is manifested microcosmically: our breath (0,3 Hz) and our puls (1,2 Hz) relate to the frequency of the lower octave of an A of 432 Hz (108 Hz) as 1:360 and 1:90.” – innergarden.org

Most music worldwide has been tuned to 440 hertz since the International Standards Organization (ISO) endorsed it in 1953. The recent rediscoveries of the vibratory / oscillatory nature of the universe indicate that this contemporary international concert pitch standard may generate an unhealthy effect or anti-social behavior in the consciousness of human beings. A=432 Hz, known as Verdi’s ‘A’ is an alternative tuning that is mathematically consistent with the universe. Music based on 432 Hz transmits beneficial healing energy, because it is a pure tone of math fundamental to nature. The Healing Energy of 432Hz, The Tone of Nature

A=432 Hz, known as Verdi's 'A' is an alternative tuning that is mathematically consistent with the universe. Music based on 432Hz transmits beneficial healing energy, because it is a pure tone of math fundamental to nature.

According to Brain T. Collins, a musician and researcher, the standard pitch (A=440 Hz) does not harmonize on any level that corresponds to cosmic movement, rhythm, or natural vibration.

The greatest musicians, such as Mozart and Verdi, based their music on the natural vibration of A=432. It's true that it is only 8 vibrations per second different from the standard tuning, but this small difference seems to be remarkable to our human consciousness.

There's a growing musical and metaphysical movement for recovering optimal integrity in the music industry and spirituality through the 432Hz tuning.

In April 2008 Dutch journalist Richard Huisken founded the 'back to 432 Hz' committee, claiming that this original tuning was used in ancient cultures and is found on antique instruments like the Stradivarius violin.

The healing benefits

According to Richard Huisken, music tuned to 432 Hz is softer and brighter, giving greater clarity and is easier on the ears.

Many people experience more meditative and relaxing states of body and mind when listening to such music. The natural musical pitch of the universe gives a more harmonic and pleasant sound than 440 Hz.

432 Hz seems to work at the heart chakra, "the feeling", and therefore could have a good influence on the spiritual development of the listener. Some people who are not able to distinguish the 8hz difference claim they can feel the music warmer due to the longer wavelength.

For me the difference between 432 Hz and 440Hz is simply stunning. The former makes my heart sing; the latter just jars. Another mystery nravelled! I have some clipped some more of the story from three websites below.

Because 432 Hz gives a greater clarity than 440 Hz, there's less need to play it as loud as 440 Hz.

This means less hearing damage, as long as you put the volume not too high. Furthermore there's also less noise pressure. Researchers and musicians, such as Coreen Morsink (pianist and music teacher), report that they feel calmer, happier and more relaxed when playing music at 432Hz.

Music based on this natural tone is more transparent, more marked, gives an obvious musical picture and the overtones and undertones moves more freely. Music based on 440 Hz represents stuffed emotions and blocked energy. By lowering the pitch by just 8 Hz, you became more flexible and spontaneous.

The 432 Hz tuning releases your energy and takes you into a beautiful state, where relaxation is natural.
To me the difference between 432Hz and 440Hz music is simply stunning. The former makes my heart sing if I like the piece. The latter just jars...A mystery unravelled! I have clipped more of the story from three websites here.

Where does it come from?

According to Ananda Bosman, international researcher and musician, archaic Egyptian instruments that have been unearthed are largely tuned to A=432Hz. Ancient Greeks tuned their instruments predominantly to 432Hz.

Within the archaic Greek Eleusinian Mysteries, Orpheus is the god of music, death and rebirth, and was the keeper of the Ambrosia and the music of transformation.

His instruments were tuned at 432Hz.

Guiseppe Verdi, an Italian composer, placed A exactly at 432 Hz. He did this because this tuning is ideal for opera voices.

Jamie Buturff, sound researcher, found out that some Tibetan monks used this tuning in their hand-made instruments. He put a CD with Tibetan singing bowls into his player and used a Korg tuner to discover that the bowls were all harmonic to the 432 music scale.

narcissism the modern epidemic

interesting article

Intimacy And The Narcissistic Spouse

You wonder how the hell you got into this mess.  Why didn't you see this coming?  What are you doing so wrong?  No matter how hard you try, it is never good enough.  Your life feels out of control.  Overwhelming.  Confusing.  Good at times and at others just dreadful.  You feel rejected, belittled, trapped, isolated.

You are married to a narcissist.  Life is all about his agenda, not yours.  He is Mr Wonderful in public, smiling, outgoing and congenial to every Tom, **** and Harry that comes his way.  But with you at home the behaviour is very different.

His grandiose sense of entitlement causes big blowouts in your life.  There are debts.  Whatever you provide, it is not enough.  He cannot understand why there has to be restraint.  He is for ever pushing you to make the impossible happen, because the impossible is what he deserves.
You cannot argue with him.  Whatever the issue is, you will be seen as spoiling his day.  Everything going wrong is your fault.  You are familiar with verbal abuse and the low self esteem that goes with it.

There are three distinctive phases to the relationship.

1.  Pursuit:  At this stage he is doing everything in his power to wow you into his world.  He wants to impress you and impress you he does.  Nothing is too much trouble.  He can be spectacular in his attentions to you.  No wonder you got taken in!  Who wouldn't?  But it is not because of what he sees in you, what he loves about you, the work you do or the values you have.  No; it is about him - how good you make him look, how you add to his prestige, how you make things happen for him, how he imagines he looks when he is with you.  The impress the socks off you stage ends abruptly once he feels he owns you.

2.  Transition:  This happens once you move in with him, or marry him, or have children.  All of a sudden, he perceives that he no longer needs to make an effort.  You have now crossed over into his world, his bubble.  You are now just an extension of himself.  And that all works just fine until you express any individuality, an original idea, or feelings of your own, not his.  This is enormously threatening to him.  One commentator described it as feeling like you have stepped out of his bubble and into your own.  For him, it feels like abandonment and he must do everything in his power to get you back into his bubble.  The belittling, verbal abuse, angry assaults or silent treatment that follow leave you feeling shunned, negated, unseen, unheard, trivialised, confused, sad, lonely, trapped and desperate.

3.  Victimisation:  Your behaviour has changed.  You avoid sharing personal feelings and thoughts because you know your partner cannot handle it.  Intimacy is not happening in your relationship. There is no sex.  You are walking on eggshells.  As long as you manage to express approval and adulation, all is sweet.  But when you fail to do this, you are devalued and regarded with extreme suspicion.  You have become aware that your perception of reality is very different from his.  No matter how or to what length you spell out the reality of the situation, he ignores it if it does not accord with his sense of superiority.  He denies his problems.  He might deny his illnesses. He denies the mess he is creating in your life.  Subconsciously he is aware of what he is doing, but he projects it onto you.   So, his inability to create intimacy becomes a suspicion that you are flirting or having affairs with other people.  He is extremely jealous.  He is pitching his survival against yours. You have at this stage become a codependent, a willing carrier of all the blame he needs to cast upon you.
Being married to a narcissist is a rough ride.  The biggest problem is probably that you remember how wonderful it was in pursuit and keep wishing it could go back to that stage.  But it never will, not with you, anyway.  But, you can survive it and make it work for you.

Is it worth it?  We are talking about being married to people with a serious personality defect.  It is a life of self denial to a large degree. Is it worth it?

The answer to that question will vary from person to person.  The way I see it is, every person is fearfully and wonderfully made.  Every person is a masterpiece, a mystery, a beauty to explore.  Every person, in my opinion, is loveable and capable of loving. But it is a grace to love and live with a narcissist.

One of the key survival skills is recognising the problem for what it is and not expecting the impossible from your partner.  You do need to express approval and adulation of him in every way you possibly can.  But you also need to express your belief in your own value and teach him to respect it.
Intimacy can be terrifying to him so you must undertake the responsibility of initiating it.  You have to know that he is not wanting to reject you; he is incapable of initiating something so
utterly threatening to himself.  But he can be taught to please you.

It is not that he wants to hurt you or wants to belittle you.  He really does love you in his own way.  But you have to teach him to love you more. You have to stand up for yourself, insist that your interests and privacy are respected.

You have to set boundaries, firmly and calmly, to his grandiosity.
You have to love and value yourself enough to have meaningful friendships in which you can express and share your personal thoughts and feelings, hopes and longings.  Because you will never be able to do that with him.
But, living in his bubble, you can still have freedom and find joy.  You can enter his world and embrace it for your own reasons and your own enjoyment. And doing this, you will have shared experiences that create conversation and memories.

And you have to know where you can turn to for support during the really tough times, the times when he is nasty to you, belittling of you, rejecting you, refusing you, or irrationally berating you for his own shortcomings.

fermented foods class

chocolate cherry kefir cheesecake
These classes are getting great feedback.  Next one is 12th April.  Click here to find out more.

I am very proud of and touched by the many testimonials we have had.  Here are some of them:

Saturday is resonating in my life like a brilliant new song I heard on the radio! ... On a health level, the food and drink we were offered was so high vibrational that I felt amazing for a few days. I missed it the next day and would like to make steps towards incorporating some of the magic into our lives now. Thank you so much for your generosity of spirit and information. It was brilliant. Am inspired to make more ferments and play around with the kefir and invest in the smoothie goodness. I had expected a fermentation course but for it to be grounded in your experience of raw food health was such a bonus for me as I have such an interest in dietary health and had so many questions answered verbally or otherwise. Alex, Somerset
Thank you for very enlightening fermentation fetish day session we have attended last before last weekend. It resurrected some of information we had about fermentation from our childhoods which will enable us to return to these very healthy practices. In addition, it has equipped us with a lot of information, which we can now build on. Our first four jars of salsa and sour kraut with goji berries are already actively fermenting and we can not wait enough to taste it soon. Denise and Marek London, formerly from Slovakia

Fabulously tasteful day - strawberry chocolate cheesecake was sublime - you've got to try it. Stella

There was some serious transmission of energies and frequencies in the room. I could feel my consciousness expanding with the words that were shared. Dunstan, Bristol
